Orienteering Raleigh NC

Backwoods Orienteering Klub, founded November 15, 1978 sponsors events and teaches orienteering in the North Carolina piedmont, around Raleigh, NC.

We invite you to try orienteering with us. Everyone is welcome at all our events. We always offer beginning, intermediate, advanced and expert courses (routes through the woods) at every Regular event.

Results for May 12, 2103 event in Birkhead Wilderness

The weather was great and the courses very difficult. Kudos to all who came and competed!

It’s hard to pinpoint the hardest control. Based on the responses we got, there were many. Which is a good thing for an advanced event 🙂
The general idea for the course was: start with a few tough controls in the green, follow with long legs, get over a hill or two to tire everybody out and finish with a pinball on the rocky hill. We hope the people liked the challenge, despite long times.
