Backwoods Orienteering Klub, founded November 15, 1978 sponsors events and teaches orienteering in the North Carolina piedmont, around Raleigh, NC.

We invite you to try orienteering with us. Everyone is welcome at all our events. We always offer beginning, intermediate, advanced and expert courses (routes through the woods) at every Regular event.

CANCELED –  The Open event at Umstead North on  Jan 24 has been canceled.

We just got notice that Umstead Park will be closed on Sunday because of the ice storm.  We will be in touch with the park to see if it can be rescheduled, and we will keep you posted.

 

Don’t miss the Open event (everyone welcome) on January 24, 2016.  This is a Classic type of event with Beginner – Expert difficulty so we will have all the usual courses, White (beginner), Yellow (intermediate), Orange (advanced), Brown (expert short), Green (expert medium), and Red (expert long).  Starts will begin at Noon, and the course closes at 3pm.  There will be a beginner class at 12:30.  The event will start at the large shelter on the north side of Umstead Park accessed from US 70.
