Orienteering Raleigh NC

Backwoods Orienteering Klub, founded November 15, 1978 sponsors events and teaches orienteering in the North Carolina piedmont, around Raleigh, NC.

We invite you to try orienteering with us. Everyone is welcome at all our events. We always offer beginning, intermediate, advanced and expert courses (routes through the woods) at every Regular event.

March 19 is the rescheduled date for the Umstead March 12 event

This event will now be held on March 19, 2017

With possible snow in Raleigh on Sunday March 12, and uncertainty about whether the park might close, I got approval to move the open event originally scheduled for March 12 out a week to March 19. Sorry for any inconvenience. We hope to see you all on March 19.

We will have an OPEN event at Umstead Park South on Sunday March 19, 2017 March 12, 2017.
Everyone is welcome, and we will have a beginners class at 12:30.

The event starts at noon and everybody must finish by 3 PM. Last starts at 2 PM.

We will have all regular courses from beginner to expert, White through Red.
White 1.7km 12 controls
Yellow 2.6km 11 controls
Orange 3.6km 10 controls
Brown 3.8km 9 controls
Green 5.5km 13 controls
Red 6.7km 15 controls

If you are bringing a group of 5 or more people please preregister for this event NO LATER THAN 5pm Friday March 17.

We have a fillable PDF entry form which you can save on your computer and print to bring with you to the event. You can always find links to these in “BOK Information” links on the right of most BOK pages.

As always, help with control pick-up would be greatly appreciated.

Directions

Take I-40 to Exit 287 (Harrison Ave). Go north a short distance to the park entrance. Registration and starts will be in the large picnic shelter to the NW of the parking area.
