On July 11, we will be holding a Sprint orienteering event at Lake Crabtree County Park at 1400 Aviation Parkway, Morrisville. Everyone is welcome. We will not have beginner classes or instruction. We recommend that you have completed a yellow course before attempting this event.
Map pickup and download will be at the White Oak Shelter. Enter the park and follow the road until you see the turnoff to the right for White Oak Shelter.
There will be three courses,
- Sprint A (2.9km, 10 controls).
- Sprint B (2.2km, 11 controls)
- Sprint C (1.9km, 10 controls).
Choose any combination of courses you wish. Courses are at approximately yellow/orange difficulty. If it’s hot you may wish to run shorter or fewer courses. Sprint A is probably a hybrid between a sprint and a classic.
Register by noon Saturday July 10 so we know how many maps to print.
- Choose your arrival time slot between 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM
- When you choose an Arrival Time Slot you should arrive within the 1/2 hour after its starting time.
- Limit of 10 registrations per half hour time slot
- Courses will close at 1:30pm.
You can read more about how COVID is affecting our events here.
- Be sure to wear a mask in the map pickup/download area
- Wake County Covid Tier is Significant/Yellow
- Bring water
- Insect repellent is recommended. We have found Sawyer Permethrin which you spray on clothes and then allow to dry before wearing to be quite effective.
You must preregister (and pay) for this event here before Saturday July 10 at noon.
No payment will be accepted at the park.
Course Closes: 1:30 PM. Help with control pickup is always appreciated.
