Yellow to orange class October 20, 2019

Special yellow-to-orange class

Note: This class will be before the October 20 open event. An earlier version of this notice inadvertently had a different date. Correct date is October 20. My apologies for any confusion.

If you are ready to move up from yellow, we are offering a limited space yellow to orange class for up to 8 participants at the Oct 20 open event at Umstead North. This will be in the forest and will start from the last car park at 9am sharp. I anticipate the class will last approximately 90 minutes. We will set some on-trail and some off-trail controls and talk about (and practice) terrain and navigation strategies as we do it. There is no charge but registration is required. You can register at the same time you register for the event. Class is limited to 8 participants!

You must have completed at least one yellow course and be comfortable with navigating along linear features such as streams, ditches, reentrants and rides. The class will include off-trail navigation.

If you are moving up to orange, the control descriptions are now pictorial rather than English words. See our Control Descriptions and Map Symbols Explained page which includes a link to a handy online quiz.
