The event went very well. Almost everyone set out a control and we all got started in a timely manner both days. The rain was very cooperative and came down only before or after our events. Each person was assigned a region in which to set their transmitter and given a briefing on thinking strategically on deciding where to set it. The results were quite good with competitors choosing different orders and even some disagreement on which route was preferable. Everyone was vaccinated (at least once) so we had a pizza lunch outside on the deck after the transmitters were picked up Sunday afternoon.

We are going to have a Classic ARDF Practice on Saturday May 29 for 2m and Sunday, May 30, 2021 for 80m.
Registration is available at our BOK Store.
Volunteer Setup: The plan is we will meet at 9am on both days. Volunteers will help set up the course and then compete on the course. Five volunteers will each get a transmitter and instruction on how to set it up, along with a map showing the region where they should set up their transmitter. Then volunteers will head out into the woods to set up their transmitter and return to the start so that everyone can compete on the course. (Volunteers will obviously have the advantage of knowing where one transmitter is.)
Participants who need instruction or are renting receivers must arrive before 9:30 AM. Everyone must arrive by 10:00 AM to participate because registration will close and we will walk to the start. No maps will be available after 10:00 AM.
Extra Possible Activity: After everyone has finished their classic course we can set up a short sprint course in the afternoon. This will depend on both fatigue and temperature. Setting up sprint transmitters is super fast and easy.
We only have a couple of 2m receivers to rent on Saturday. After the receivers are rented that option will be removed from the registration.
We have plenty of 80m receivers to rent on Sunday. if you want to try ARDF. (Don’t forget to bring your plug in headphones.) Only one person can listen to the receiver at a time, so if you are going with someone then be sure to rent 2 receivers.
Gray Owl Location: 1725 Gray Owl Road, Asheboro, NC. (35.634843, -79.881873) There is a control on our mailbox at the intersection of Hopewell Friends and Gray Owl Road. Drive 1/4 mile on Gray Owl and take the first left fork onto our driveway. Drive 1/4 mile to the turnaround, then turn around and only park on the right side (east side) of the driveway as you are heading back out. Do not drive on the grass at all! Do not park in the turnaround!
Please bring a mask in case everyone isn’t vaccinated. We will wear our masks when we are together during transmitter & receiver instruction.
