Results for Nov 6, 2016 event in North Umstead
It was a perfect day for orienteering. We had good turnout and challenging courses, especially Orange. Moreover the very first control on Orange was about 15 meters off (on a wrong knoll closer to the re-entrant). You could see it from the right spot, but still it made it harder to find. Sorry about that……

Schenck Forest November 13, 2016 – Results
Beautiful weather for this event. The courses were complex as typical for Josef’s courses. Thanks to Josef for course design, control setting, and registration, Joseph and Ruth for course layout, printing and pre-registration, Debra and Jeff Rezeli and Dave Waller for control pickup. One final note: In the Pre-Registration Form the section that says “Number…

It was a perfect autumn weekend for orienteers from Charlotte, Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana to join local BOK members for three events, all run within 24 hours at Eno River state park. The fun started on Saturday afternoon, with a fast forest sprint through perfectly open woods, among the cairns and rootstocks of Cox Mountain.…

Results — Carolina Friends School
22 Oct, Carolina Friends School Saturday was a picture-perfect day for orienteering in a beautiful new venue for BOK – Carolina Friends School campus in Chapel Hill. The event brought out many of the regular local orienteers, as well as several families from the school community. There were two relatively short “sprint” courses offered –…

Results for Open event at Raven Rock State Park – Oct 16
After Hurrican Matthew threatened to shut down this event, we were able to hold it. We had lovely sunny fall weather. The rhododendron/laurel undergrowth makes this a challenging location and a few extra thorns don’t help. Most competitors enjoyed themselves and found the courses challenging, particularly the orange and up, although even yellow had some…

02 Oct 2016, Carolina North Forest Three advanced courses found nearly two dozen BOK orienteers on the west side of Carolina North Forest, in some of its most intricate areas. These are places with a lot of features packed into a small space, or a lot of twisty trails, trail crossings, and intersections to keep…

Radio-O at Carolina Forest 8/14/2016 Results
The event was a great success in that almost everyone found all the controls and had fun. In this White/Yellow level event there are 5 transmitters, each on a different frequency, transmitting continuously. There were a reasonable assortment of issues that make any ARDF event “unique”, shall I say. We picked up a box of Chinese receivers…
