  • Street orienteering in Hillsborough: Saturday, November 11

Everyone is welcome to attend our quasi-annual street-O on Saturday, November 11.  This year, for the first time, we will be in Hillsborough; and taking a page from our friends at WNCOC we’ll be headquartered at a local brewpub, Eno River Brewing.  Everyone will start from the brewery together at noon, with map handout starting…

  • Results — White Pines (Sept 2023)

The landowners vetoed our original plan to have a nighttime event at White Pines, so instead we had a daytime one-person relay.  People could choose to do one, two, or three loops around the Preserve, and those who signed-up for multiple loops had a map exchange them.  Most competitors were able to finish their course…

  • Results — Fox Chase (10 Sept 2023)

(revised 12 Sept 2023) BOK’s fourth annual ‘Fox Chase’ event was again a fast and fun event at Carolina North Forest.  After an early bobble, Matt Kirk went on to score an impressive 282 points, followed closely by Vladimir Stemkovski at 278.    I realized that in this race, because controls are assigned point values based…

  • Results: Sprint Orienteering at Eno River

Twenty-six people braved high temperature and humidity along with the threat of yellow jackets and overgrown vegetation for sprint orienteering at Eno River. Thirteen participants attempted both courses. Sprint A ‘Forest’ was on the west side of the suspension bridge and featured mostly runnable forest, but with some trickier control placement. Sprint B ‘Meadow’ was…

  • Event director needed — Aug 13

We still need a volunteer to be the director of our event scheduled at Eno River on August 13. If you have never directed an event before and want to try, we can get you started. If we don’t get a volunteer soon, we will have to cancel this portion of the event. Regardless of…

  • June 17 event cancelled

Unfortunately, the event that we scheduled at Camp Lapahio in Umstead Park on June 17 was not approved by park management. We are cancelling this event and currently do not have plans to re-schedule.

  • Shackleford Banks — Results

The cold rainy weather couldn’t spoil our fun on Shackleford this year. Although strong gusts prevented us from getting out for our Saturday courses, we were able to enjoy the island on Sundy where people ran one, two or three short loop courses among the dunes and wild horses. Although it wasn’t completely the weekend…
