We had perfect weather for our event. The hailstorm waited until Charles had collected all the transmitters, and just crossed the bridge. Needless to say he was pretty soggy by the time he got to the car. Thank you Charles for setting up a very good course. Several people had some of their best runs. We are getting ready for the World Champs — whenever that may be.

Here are the locations of the foxes…

Eno River ARDF Saturday March 27, 2021

We have added an ARDF 80m Classic to our Eno River event on Saturday, making this a 2 day event. ARDF only on Saturday and Orienteering only on Sunday.

  • Location: 6101 Cole Mill Rd. Durham,
    • NCGPS: 36.073888, -79.006011
  • Registration for the SATURDAY ARDF event at the BOK Store.
  • If you don’t have a receiver you must rent one. We have 8 receivers, so sign up early.
  • Start slots go from 10am to 1pm.
    • 2 hour time limit on the course
  • Course closes at 3pm
  • If you are new to ARDF, check out our Beginner’s Guide to ARDF.
    • This event is open to anyone and we will help you get started with the receiver so you can get out there and find a couple (or all 5) transmitters.
    • If you are going with a friend you should rent 2 receivers, otherwise one person can’t really participate in the ARDF part.
      • One team used a headphone splitter so one receiver could be heard by both people (stay close together 🙂
  • Registration will be by the parking lot. (Not sure exactly where yet – look for signs.)

Details:

  • The Start/Finish location will be near the O’Briant Cabin
  • All foxes will be located west of the Eno.
    • No river crossing will be required while on the clock.
    • No running on the bridge ever – even if you were on the clock – which you aren’t, so no problem.
  • This will be a short 80m Classic practice event.
    • Five fox transmitters all 400m or more apart.
    • There will be a 400m exclusion zone around the start/finish.
    • There will be a finish beacon close to the finish line.
    • Frequencies: 3.54 MHz Foxes, 3.6 MHz beacon, power level 1.5 watts.
  • A 5-fox course will be ~7 km effective length or less. There will be shorter options: a 3-fox 6 km effective length course, and a 3-fox ~4 km effective length course.
