Orienteering Raleigh NC

Backwoods Orienteering Klub, founded November 15, 1978 sponsors events and teaches orienteering in the North Carolina piedmont, around Raleigh, NC.

We invite you to try orienteering with us. Everyone is welcome at all our events. We always offer beginning, intermediate, advanced and expert courses (routes through the woods) at every Regular event.

Open Orienteering at Umstead North, April 9th, 2023

On Sunday, April 9th, BOK is hosting an Open orienteering event at Umstead
Park. Enter the park from Glenwood Avenue and follow the road past the Visitor Center, and the directions to parking for Potts Branch and Sycamore Trail. We will start from the Crabtree Shelter (35.8717237,-78.7591062).

This event is open to all skill levels. There will be a beginner class at 12:30. Start time slots will be between noon and 1:30pm.
Sign up for your time slot before the deadline at 5:00pm on Friday, April 7th. Registration is now closed.

The courses will close at 3pm. Be sure to check in at the shelter after your course so we know everyone made it back.

  • Yellow (2.9 km)
  • Orange (3.3 km)
  • Brown (3.8 km)
  • Green (5.7 km)
  • Red (6.7 km)
