On August 23, we will be holding a sprint orienteering event at Lake Crabtree County Park. The event is open to everyone, but we will not be offering beginner classes nor instruction. Registration will be in or near the Dogwood shelter. We are not able to reserve shelters, so if it is already taken registration will move. Follow the BOK signs when you come into the park to find us.
There will be two courses, each 2.2km in length – one on the east side of the park, and one on the west. Starts and finish will be remote, but relatively close to the registration table. This allows for the possibility that the registration / download table will need to relocate, as well as helping to encourage distancing.
Please note the following procedures that we will implement for this event:
1. When you register, you must select a specific 1-hour start window between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Courses will close at 2pm. When 10 people have chosen a window, it will be closed.
2. There will be no beginner class, no loaner compasses, no plastic map bags (i.e., bring your own), no printed results, and no registration forms. Participants may request to receive their map via email if they prefer to not pick it up at the event.
3. Finger Sticks will be available to rent for this event. Our rental sticks have been unused for months, so there is little risk of contamination. Finger stick numbers will be pre-assigned, the finger sticks will be wiped down in advance and placed in individual bags for you to pick up at the event. Sanitizing wipes will be available if you want to wipe down the sticks again, and used finger sticks will be returned into a separate container so they can be re-sanitized.
You can read more about how COVID is affecting our events here.
You must preregister (and pay) for this event here before Friday August 21 at 5:00 PM, so that we know how many maps to print.
No payment will be accepted at the park.

As a newcomer to the park, where is the Dogwood shelter?
